John Kitchens grew up on a farm in Alabama, but moved to Colorado in the 1990s before wanderlust took him all over the country (and globe). A graduate of Colorado State, he moved back to Fort Collins in 2013. Despite his last name, a short family history reveals no records of anyone specifically associated with culinary occupations. And while this was not his original career path, John often made various condiments, hot sauces, or pickles at home, usually from whatever he was growing in his garden that year. One evening at a cookout, after tasting his mustards and other sauces, some friends suggested that he should bottle his sauces. Certainly not the first time that’s been said among friends standing around a grill, but . . . with a little help from friends and family, Rocky Mountain Mustard Company represents the first endeavor in the condiment market. Hopefully, with a little luck and success, there will be more to come.
